The paintings featured are of swimmers, families and friends enjoying the beach.

Dixon starts off with images he takes, sketches in situ, or simply something that holds his interest. It could be the movement of the figures in space or the composition. He is quite often get drawn to combinations of dress, limbs, colours in contrast. Sometimes this works the same with a photo taken in the street; as the work develops he relies less and less on the original image and sometimes the painting can move a lot further away from it.

Robin Dixon studied at Maidstone College of Art (KIAD). He lives & works in Gravesend & London. He has exhibited in group shows in the the U.K and internationally, being selected for the Jerwood Painting Prize (2007), the John Moores Painting Prize exhibition (2014). Recent exhibitions include Outsiders Art Club, Handbag Factory, Vauxhall (2025), Sunstruck, Framing Gallery at G&S (2025), Let’s Get Lost, lido Stores, Margate (2024), An Exhibition of Small Things with Big Ideas, White Conduit Projects (2023), Lido Stores Open (2022), the Wells Art Contemporary (2022), The Turner Contemporary Open (2022), The Immaculate Dream, Collyer Bristow Gallery, London (2019), Solitudes and Seasons, Alison Richard Building, Cambridge (2019).
